Learning Log (week 4) Inside the classroom

Learning Log (week 4) Inside the classroom

                                     Learning Log 4

             June 24th 2013

In the fourth class, I have learned about teaching method that my friends presented. It is the last time for presentation about teaching method. Teacher reviews knowledge about communicative competences. They presented about pronunciation teaching, Culture teaching, Test specification teaching learning. There are five subjects that I learnt.

Frist,Culture is a broad concept that embraces all aspects of human life. Culture isn't just a list of religious traditions, or language. It is a lived experience unique to each individual. Language without cultural relevance is nearly useless. Yet successfully teaching the cultural element in our foreign language classes remains elusive. In general, culture emphasizes the learner's ability to perceive, to understand, and ultimately, to accept cultural relativity.

Second, Presentation is way to practise speaking English. Speaking skill always be related to using thinking skill. Before presentation, you should search new information on several websites and summarize it in your own words. In addition, when you copy other tasks or ideas, you have to do references for referring to head writers. Today, there are presentation on five topics namely vocabulary teaching, teaching English using ICT, culture teaching, Communicative Language Teaching and pronunciation.

Third,Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) or Communicative approach is way to teach students in communication with the others. CLT, there are five steps to teach students, including warm-up, presentation, practice, production and wrap-up. The teacher teaches students to communicate through interaction in the target language. The teacher allows students to educational travel outside the classroom for communicating with foreigners at several places such as hotels, restaurants, shopping place, beach or the national park.

Today, Teacher also guide students to summarize what we learned into chart, including belief for teaching, curriculum, course, syllabus, lesson plan and standard/ indicator. Then students understand about this chart, I learn  all 13 methods two week ago. I think each method describe approaches, techniques and application of teaching that need to teacher and me. I can apply to do lesson plan.
